If you are struggling to think of what to do on your next family day out, need somewhere that won't break the bank, is child friendly and will have something every family member can enjoy, then a day out at Thirsk races is the perfect destination.
Here a few reasons why you should get outdoors and come racing.
KIDS GO FREE
Children under 18 have FREE admission when accompanied by a paying adult, and no we are not kidding.. As it is free entry to all under 18's on any of our racedays throughout the season**, it makes racing at Thirsk a very cost effective choice when choosing a family day out. With a wide array of ticket packages to choose from it’s easy to tailor a day to suit your budget.
**Please note on Friday 16th August - Evening Racing followed by Scouting for Girls, teenager tickets will apply, applicable for ages 13 to 17 inclusive. Those aged 12 and under will have free admission and all under 18's must accompanied by a paying adult.
The great outdoors
With the modern comforts of technology we are all guilty of neglecting the importance of a day spent in the fresh air. A day out at the races will certainly get you outdoors and with lots of on course activities that will keep the kids entertained, you can be sure that the journey home will be a happy one.
Fun for the whole family
Racing offers a wide range of activities to suit all ages. It is easy to keep your children entertained with a dedicated family area with activities that include pony riding, bouncy castles and some favourite iconic ‘meet and greet ‘characters. Meanwhile, the adults are able to relax by heading to one of the child-friendly eateries or indulge in extra quality family time by unpacking a picnic in the family enclosure.
We have TWO fun filled family days for the 2019 season.
- James Herriot 'All Creatures Great & Small' Family Day - Friday 9th August
- Pirates Family Day - Friday 30th August
All family raceday entertainment is located in the Family Enclosure and is provided free of charge, in addition to the action-packed race programme .
