Feature Day's

Thirsk will host five Saturday meetings in 2024 with these popular fixtures hosting a range of higher-classed races on the track and a range of added entertainment making each event a great day out.

Saturday 20th April – Vickers.bet Raceday

Our first Saturday of the season, sponsored by Vickers.bet. This twilight fixture will have a slightly later opening time, with the first race expected to take place around 3:30pm.

Saturday 4th May – Vickers.bet Thirsk Hunt Cup Day

Thirsk Hunt Cup Day is the most prestigious and historic race day in our calendar. Enjoy some quality racing on the course, alongside away coverage of The 2000 Guineas.

Saturday 18th May – SkyBet Irish Day

Come dressed in your favourite Irish-themed outfits and enjoy a fun packed day of racing and live Irish music!

Saturday 3rd August – William Hill Summer Cup

An afternoon of racing in the summer sun, featuring the William Hill Summer Cup for a day full of great racing and a wonderful atmosphere.

Friday 18th August – Sausage and Craft Beer Evening

A popular addition in 2023, we welcome back Sausage masters ‘Heck‘ and a range of local craft beer and cider pressers for an evening of racing, live music, food and drink!

Get a headstart with our Sausage and Beer Packages, available with both Premier and Grandstand and Paddock admission.

Saturday 7th September – Ladies’ Day

The ever-popular Ladies’ Day, where fashion and glamour meet the racecourse. Enter Best Dressed competitions and enjoy the electric atmosphere, live music from The Emerald Thieves!

Day's out for all the family

Family Days

A day-out at Thirsk races is the perfect destination for day out for all the family and Thirsk Racecourse also offers free admission for all accompanied children under 18, with no ticket purchase required. We have FOUR dedicated family days during our 2024 season, hosting a variety of entertainment for children of all ages to enjoy. In addition to the action-packed race programme, all family raceday entertainment is provided free of charge and located in the Grandstand Paddock and Picnic Enclosure.

Sunday 16th June – SkyBet Sunday Series – Father’s Day
An exciting addition to the fixture list, we are delighted to be hosting a Father’s Day-themed ‘SkyBet Sunday Series’ meeting on Sunday 16th June. A relaxed affair where we will be operating as one-enclosure and strictly NO dress code, we are encouraging families to join us for a real celebration by treating the father figures in our lives to a day at the races!

A quality day of racing, with over £200k in prize money, the day will host a range of free activities for the children to include bouncy castles, inflatable slides, balloon modelling and face painting also available.

Friday 9th August – Circus Family Day
A popular fixture in our calendar, we’re delighted to be welcoming back the National Festival Circus with their award-winning performances in their big top. We will also host bouncy castles, inflatables, balloon modelling, face painting and a range of traditional fairground stalls alongside an afternoon of racing.

Friday 30th August – All Creatures Great and Small Family Day
Join us in celebrating our town’s heritage as the home of the world-famous Yorkshire Vet, James Herriot. With a visit from a mini petting farm, with everything from Llamas to ducks, to pigs to bunnies! We will also host bouncy castles, inflatables, balloon modelling, face painting and a range of traditional fairground stalls.

All children’s activities as always, will be FREE at all of our family days.

Ladies' Day

Saturday 9th September

One of the highlights of the North Yorkshire social calendar is where fashion meets the flat at Thirsk Racecourse.
