CAR & COACH PARKING

With the exception of the picnic ‘Park & View’ area in the Family Enclosure, all car and coach parking at Thirsk Racecourse is free of charge.

PREMIER ENCLOSURE CAR PARKING:

This is situated at the eastern end of the Racecourse, adjacent the Premier Entrance. 

This car park is reserved for:

·         Premier badge & hospitality badge holders

·         Annual badge holders

·         Owners & Trainers

·         Press

An area close to the entrance is reserved for registered disabled blue label car parking permit holders who wish to enter the Premier Enclosure.

Directional signage is located as you approach the Racecourse and the Premier Car Park is clearly signed at its entrance (on the north side of Station Road, opposite Tesco). Please display your car park label clearly (if you have one) and please follow the directions of the car park attendants, who are there to assist you park your vehicle promptly and safely. PLEASE NOTE THAT OVER NIGHT PARKING AT THE RACECOURSE IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN.

PADDOCK (& FAMILY) ENCLOSURE CAR PARKING:

This is situated on the south side of Station Road, to the rear of the main stands, and is the most conveniently placed car park for those entering the Paddock or Family enclosures. This car park is for:

·         Paddock enclosure racegoers

·         Family enclosure racegoers

·         Ring bookmakers

·         All racecourse, CGC catering and other contractors’ staff

FAMILY ENCLOSURE PICNIC ‘PARK & VIEW’ CAR PARKING:

The car park adjacent to the Family Enclosure at the western end of the Racecourse is the ‘Park & View’ car park and designated for those who wish to pay to park in this area.  It is ideal for a family picnic out of the boot of your car in view of the track itself. Tickets for this car park may be purchased in advance or on the day (at the gate) for £18 (or £20 on featured racedays) and include entry in the vehicle for up to 4 adults (children are admitted free of charge).  Please note that if there are more than 4 adults in the vehicle, the additional adults will be required to leave the vehicle at the entrance and pay to enter the Family Enclosure through the adjacent turnstiles.

COACH PARKING

Coach parking is situated on the north side of station road, at the western end of the stands.  Those whom arrive by coach should remain on the coach until it is parked and then proceed along Station Road and into the enclosure of their choice via the correct entrance.  The first turnstile block is for the Family Enclosure. The following turnstile block is for pre-paid Paddock Tickets, and thereafter the ‘pay on the day’ entrances are also situated.

For those planning to attend the races via public transport the following information may be of assistance:

RAIL

Thirsk Railway Station is situated (literally) at the end of the Thirsk Racecourse 6-furlong chute and so it is only a15 or so minutes walk along Station Road to the Racecourse enclosures.  It is serviced by Grand Central and TransPennine Express services (but not by East Coast services).  Live arrival and departure times for Thirsk can be found on the National Rail website HERE.

FREE RAIL STATION SHUTTLE BUS

Thirsk Racecourse operates a free shuttle-bus service between the Station and the Racecourse on all racedays. This service operates from two hours before the first race until one hour after the last.

Thirsk is serviced by regular local bus services as follows:

·         Nos. 30/30x: York Station / Easingwold / Thirsk Market Place

·         No.70: Northallerton Station / Thirsk Racecourse / Ripon Bus Depot
