Covid-19 impact on 2020 race fixtures, other events and operations - Latest Update 28/05/20

Update on the status of 2020 Race Fixtures for June, July & August

For public health and safety reasons all the race meetings scheduled to take place at Thirsk Racecourse up to and including Friday 28th August 2020 have now been cancelled. Some race meetings have been subsequently rescheduled during this period but they are not permitted to take place as open events with public admission. The provisional dates on which Thirsk will be racing 'behind closed doors', for the benefit of our industry’s horsemen, our partners, our suppliers and our television audiences, are as follows:

JUNE: 16th, 22nd & 29th*

JULY: 6th & 29th*

AUGUST: 9th

* denotes Evening meeting

Entry to these meetings will be strictly limited to essential working personnel, all of whom must be pre-authorised by the BHA, and also pass training and medical health checks in order to gain the necessary accreditation to enter the site.  The site will be secured and operating under strict Covid-19 safety protocols. Please do not attempt to attend any of these race meetings if you are not a pre-authorised worker.

Customers who have already paid for entry, racing packages and hospitality at any of Thirsk’s June, July and August meetings (if they have not already received a refund) will be refunded in full as quickly as possible. You do not need to take any further action unless contacted directly by us. If, however, you wish to transfer your booking to a later date please do not hesitate to get in touch forthwith at:  info@thirskracecourse.net 

Please allow 28-days for refunds to be processed.

By now all Thirsk Annual badge holders should have received a letter inviting them to either retain their present subscription, which will be extended to include all of 2021's fixtures, or apply for a full refund. If you are a Thirsk annual subscriber and you have not received a letter to this effect please contact us at: info@thirskracecourse.net 

All of our thoughts remain with those grieving and suffering as a result of COVID-19 and we offer a sincere thanks to the country’s incredible NHS staff, key workers and volunteers for their selfless dedication and hard work at this time of national emergency.

Further updates will follow in due course, particularly for those race meetings presently scheduled in September. We do of course look forward to being able to offer Thirsk’s racegoers a huge welcome back, but only when it is safe to do so.

When will the racing take place again? 

Racing in England is presently expected to resume on1st June but this is 'behind closed doors' without any public admission for the foreseeable future. We will be sharing the latest official updates on our fixtures through our website and social channels as soon as they are available. Racing with public admission cannot be considered presently.

What if I have already purchased raceday admission tickets or packages?

All bookings for raceday tickets and badges from April - August that were made through the Thirsk Racecourse website or over the phone with the Racecourse team, or via the post to the Racecourse office, are being refunded unless you contact us directly to switch your booking to a later fixture. Please allow up to 28-days for the whole refund process to complete from the day the cancelled meeting was scheduled to take place.

Website bookings will be automatically refunded and all other customers who have booked over the phone or by post will be contacted directly by us to arrange their refunds.  

Any customers who have purchased Thirsk tickets or hospitality through a third party should contact that individual or organisation for a refund.

What if I have a restaurant booking or have a private hospitality box in April or May?

All pre-paid sponsorship, hospitality or restaurant bookings will be refunded (as above) unless we are instructed to move your booking to another date.

What will happen if I’m an annual badge holder?

Annual badge holders have been invited to apply for a full refund or extend their subscription to cover all of 2021's meetings at no extra charge.

Non-racing conferences, rallies and other events

No public events are presently permitted due to the Government's restrictions. If you have an event booked at Thirsk Racecourse please liaise with us directly over cancellation, refunds and/or re-booking. In the first instance please email: info@thirskracecourse.net

Caravan & Motorhome Club Site

Like all other such sites across the country, Thirsk Racecourse's Caravan and Motorhome Club Site has been closed until further notice.
