New Racegoer

Thirsk Racecourse extends an especially warm welcome to visitors who are new to horse racing. It’s easy to plan your day with us; first of all, choose which of our three Enclosures you would prefer to try first and with Children under 18 having FREE ENTRY when accompanied by a full paying adult, it's a day out suitable for the whole family.

  • PREMIER ENCLOSURE - for top quality dining and bars, grandstand viewing and seating near the winning line; plus access to access the Parade Ring and the Winner's Enclosure. Premier badge holders may also access the Paddock Enclosure and the Family Enclosure. The place to be seen! A dress code does apply, Gentlemen are required to wear a shirt with collar, smart long trousers and shoes; jackets and ties are not mandatory, but are encouraged. The following items of dress will not be permitted - any items of sportswear, fancy dress, short trousers, ripped or torn garments, mottle-dyed denim, trainers, plimsolls, or any other items that, in the opinion of management, are not in keeping with the Code or may cause offence to other racegoers. Anyone in breach of this dress code will be asked to leave the Premier Enclosure until such a time as they are correctly dressed.

  • PADDOCK ENCLOSURE - for good cafeteria-style meals, fast-food and snacks, plus numerous bars in the modern, spacious buildings. Direct access to the Parade Ring and the Winner's Enclosure. Paddock Enclosure racegoers may also access the Family Enclosure. The no nonsense racing aficionados choice! (No dress code)

  • FAMILY ENCLOSURE -  for a fun, budget day-out with snack and bar facilities, children's playground, trackside car park & view (for a fee) plus the option to bring your own picnic. The family choice! (No dress code)

Car and coach parking for all enclosures is well signposted, situated right outside the Racecourse and,  except for the Family Enclosure trackside Park & View, FREE of charge!

We also offer a free shuttle-bus service from Thirsk railway station on racedays.

Each enclosure is well serviced by bookmakers and Totepool betting points and each has plenty of ladies' and gentlemen's lavatory facilities and baby-change stations. To book your tickets and badges click here.
